Staff pay rises!

Hard though it is to believe some of my staff have been asking for pay rises

I have calmed down now but just wondered what others are doing.

Whilst I don't want to loose the staff (well OK, would like to loose one of them) I am not inclined to give any pay rises

I had planned for a nil pay rise year, the team know it has been a tough year and no room for rises

Whilst not quite subscribing to the 'should be grateful to have a job' I feel they need a dose of realism

I have not had to put anyone on short-time working and I know other local firms have

Will others be sticking with the no rises view?

Thanks

I had a meeting with each member of the team and explained our position and gained their views

So far nobody has left and we would normally do the reviews in September.

Perhaps they are all overpaid

Not had this problem with staff asking for payrises

But are are looking at some kind of peformance related pay.

One area we are looking at is an incentive scheme to introduce new work and obtain new clients for the practice.

We're also looking at an incentive scheme for the Client contact team to get clients to bring their books in earlier so reduce the rush every Decembe / January. The receptionists, PAs have a lot of client contact and have the opportunity to keep mithering clients to bring their books and records in.

They tend to be more tactful as well.

Borrowed the idea from my dentist who ring up patients a couple of days before their appointment because so many used to forget to turn up.

But other than incentive payments nobody is having a payrise, except a couple of team members if they pass their exams.

Does this mean that you are looking at some kind of incentive scheme for all employees or just selected ones?

What sort of payment are you making?
